Q Rob hi would the 2.4GHz U-Tenna™ OMNI 8dBi Antenna be compatiable with windows 7. I noticed it wasn't on the product information. Also there is a couple of wifi signals which I can pick up with my nephews acer, but it is only 1 bar. Would this product improve the signal dramatically, as it's a wifi hotspot, and would certainly help out until my sister installs a phone line and broadband as the property is a new build, or maybe this wouldn't be needed and certainly save her a few quid 2010-05-06 17:28:32
A WIFI-Link Service Hi!

We have another U-Tenna OMNI 8dBi antenna is compatible with windows 7, but you will need to download the driver from our website

A WIFI-Link Service Hi! Clive,

The U-tenna is all in one antenna, the cable, antenna and USB cannot be detached.

Q navy how much does distance it covers if the wi-fi is 2.4ghz ??i want in cm?? 2010-03-16 17:35:28

Q DIGNITY CRUISING Thank you. I'm, using a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop running on Windows XP Home Edition; I have 4 x USB2.0 ports plus a PCMIA Wi-Fi adapter card (BT Voyager 1060); I guess I might be up to 0.5 miles from the marina wi-fi 'hot spot' transmissions and occassionally the boat may move from side to side whilst alongside in the marina. Also I'm uncertain as to the merits of the U-Tenna based system (at 8dBi antenna level say) over the 'Excellent' 54Mbps USB adapter + 8dBi antenna or what? Please could you explain the difference in performance with these 2 OTS systems from you? What is your suggested best solution? 2010-03-15 08:09:17
A WIFI-Link Service If you would like to cover 0.5 Mile, please try "Excellent 54Mbps USB + OMNI 8dBi + assembly 5M"
http://uk.wifi-link.com/product.php?action=product&class1_id=589&class2_id=590&class3_id=593&product_id=1377

U-Tenna is 3 in 1 antenna, everyhing is connected, just install the driver and plug in to USB port, that's it.

"Excellent 54Mbps USB + OMNI 8dBi + assembly 5M" has USB adapter, OMNI 8dBi antenna and 5 meters cable, you will need to connect them all together, but it's easy, also you will need to install the driver.

Any queries just let us know, thank you!

Q Steve Hi,I am using my Dell Inspiron 6000 in my mobile home in France. The site proprietor provides WiFi via a domestic France Telecom router which means the signal is very weak and often unusable. I would like to install an outdoor omni directional antenna in order to use my laptop wirelessly from the interior of my mobile home. The distance from the proposed site for the antenna to the building housing the router is approximately 60 metres. Thankyou. 2010-03-12 15:21:50
A WIFI-Link Service Hi!

You can try our "2.4GHz U-Tenna™ OMNI 8dBi Antenna" for picking up the signal, please put the antenna outside, thank you!

Q DIGNITY CRUISING I'm looking to improve my wi-fi reception onboard my yacht in marianas - the signal is usually weak. I currently use a Dell Inspiran laptop with a PCMIA wi-fi adapter though I can use USB2.0 connections too. What system would you advise me to get and your reasons for it please? I assume that I'd need an external antenna of course but am also uncertain of why or why not 8dBi or greater? Many thanks and looking forward to your reply. 2010-03-11 11:55:34
A WIFI-Link Service Hi!

The OMNI antenna is good for using one the boat, could you please let us know how far the signal is and what computer system are your running with? Thank you!

Q marko I have a home made wifi primestar dish 25 db dish to intercept hot spot 1 mile in distance. I want to feed the weak incoming signal from dish to wireless access point. Will this work? I want to feed signal from access point to wireless usb adapter to desktop and network from that point. Any suggestions? 2010-01-28 07:15:37
A WIFI-Link Service Hi!

The U-Tenna only for receiving the signal, so any wireless signal arround, should be able to pick up.

Q Iain F What chipset does this adapter use? Would it be able to use wireless tools like Kismet? I teach wireless security and would like to use the antenna in my college as an elevated demonstration platform. 2009-09-27 17:03:54
A WIFI-Link Service Hi Iain,

Good day!

The chipset for U-Tenna OMNI 8 dBi is ZYDAS 1211B. This is a good tool for searching the wireless signal, just plug into your USB port of LAPTOP or PC. It should be OK for your teaching. Any question, please let us know.

Q George Hi there
Can you help me on making a decision on what Antenna to purchase
I have a D-LINK Router which has 2 fixed antennas on it
can i remove these and fit on larger antenna,s or fit one of your antennas on the router, because i have a small netbook and i like to use it in the garden but i have a weak signal, can you advise on which is the best way to go,plus can you explain why on some of your antennas we need to leave the power cord fitted to the laptop why is this when i need to be portable from the battery
Please Advise
George

A WIFI-Link Service You can try to extend your router signal or extend your notebook signal.

Some of our items will use more power, if rely on the battery, maybe won't last too long, so use the power cord is better.

Please find out which antenna of your router is for transmiting the signal, unscrew that antenna, then put Panel 8dBi antenna outside and point to the garden, please check this link:
http://uk.wifi-link.com/product.php?class1_id=1&class2_id=4&class3_id=546

Or just get "Excellent 54Mbps Wireless USB with 5 dBi Dipole" for your notebook, please check this link:

Q ricky lee gallagher Hi there ,I am i need a directional device to pick up my neighbours wireless internet,so a hi dbi is needed to go through walls,I also need it to plug into my usb port. Is the u tenna a usb device then can you connect an external aerial type thing to that, one of the screw in ones? i have a budget of £50 thanks 2009-08-09 19:30:52
A WIFI-Link Service 1) The wireless signal can't get through to the thick wall.

2) Please put the antenna outside and point to where the signal is for the best result.

3) U-tenna is connected with USB, Cable, Antenna, you can't unscrew one bit of it

4) Please check the following link for your request.

Q Noel I purchased from your company on 12 May, I wish to thank you for an excellent product, so good that I have not needed the complete kit. I get a better signal at work from an unknown source than I do at home from the hub 12 feet from my Laptop. These products are excellent, if any person wants further details please feel free to email me. Thanks again. Noel 2009-06-07 22:44:59

Q Abdelhamid Hi,

I have just bought a 8db Antenna, using my built in wireless card i can pick up 3 networks in my house, but when i used your 8db Antenna + 500 mw adapter i can not see any network. I used it in my office where we have wireless network, I pick up just a weak signal.

thanks

A WIFI-Link Service Hi!

The OMNI 8dBi antenna is good at the distance more than 100 meters outdoor, if you are using indoor, the 5dBi diople antenna is better then OMNI 8dBi antenna, because the angle is wider.

But if you are in a big room, like inside the exhibition centre, the OMNI 8dBi is better than 5dBi diople antenna.

Any more queries just let me know, thank you!

Q Noel I have a very old laptop, dell inspiron 8200, I want to enhance a very weak signal, will this be suitable? Or will a lower priced produce do the job? Do you have a telephone number? 2009-05-07 16:47:47
A WIFI-Link Service It depends how far the signal is, if the signal just around you, then you don’t need the high gain antenna,
